The Witchery

Edinburgh

The Witchery in Edinburgh is one of the city’s most atmospheric landmarks. Housed in a sixteenth-century building at the gates of Edinburgh Castle, it is famed for its rich interiors, gothic drama, and sense of theatre. When the owners chose to create The Witchery Shop, the aim was to extend that experience, giving visitors a way to take a piece of The Witchery with them.

Working with architects Simpson & Brown, we sourced original timber panelling from a French chateau. In our workshop, the panels were restored with care before being installed to line the shop interior. Each stage demanded sensitivity, preserving the patina of the wood while adapting it to a new setting.

This was a highly collaborative project. We worked closely with both architect and client to ensure every detail carried the same spirit as the original building. The Witchery Shop now stands as a natural addition to the restaurant and hotel, echoing their layered history while offering a distinctive experience for discerning visitors.
